Start with the facts, not the classification.

Most use-of-force tools are partly defined by what they apply to a person: impact, chemical exposure, electrical current or physical contact. De-Escalator applies none of those.

We do not claim that automatically puts it outside your use-of-force policy. That decision belongs to your agency. Our job is to give your training, legal and policy teams a precise description of what the device does and does not do.

What an officer gets from the interruption

In tactical training, the OODA loop describes the cycle of observing, orienting, deciding and acting. De-Escalator is designed to interrupt that cycle long enough to create time and distance.

In practice, that may mean a few seconds to reposition, find cover, wait for another officer, or transition to the next response your training calls for.

Put it in an officer's hand.

Do not buy it because the website says it works. Put it in a supervisor's or trainer's hand. Test it in the environments your team actually works in, then decide whether it belongs on the roster.
